{"id":17310,"date":"2022-02-11T14:44:28","date_gmt":"2022-02-11T19:44:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=17310"},"modified":"2022-02-11T14:47:16","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T19:47:16","slug":"the-view-from-here-can-we-talk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2022\/02\/the-view-from-here-can-we-talk\/","title":{"rendered":"The View From Here &#8211; Can We Talk?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I appreciate that you are here.\u00a0 That you share your afternoons with me and that you read these blogs.\u00a0 And I love when you stay connected with messages of support and encouragement, and other things.<\/p>\n<p>We have shared a LOT in the last couple of years, getting through this pandemic, and helping each other through.\u00a0 Good days, bad days.\u00a0 You&#8217;ve made it easy for me to share all of it.\u00a0 The sadness, fear, frustration, anger, and everything in between.\u00a0 You have helped me feel less alone.\u00a0 So thank you for that.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a challenging time and it feels even more challenging now as it draws on and on.\u00a0 I get the frustration.\u00a0 I feel it too.\u00a0 I&#8217;m tired of it.\u00a0 So tired of it.\u00a0 At the same time, I&#8217;ve gotten really used to hiding out at home.\u00a0 Getting too comfortable in comfy clothes.\u00a0 And my eyebrows might scare small children at this point.\u00a0 I really should do something about that, other than grow out my bangs to hide them. (smile)<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a bit pissed off today too because after all that we&#8217;ve done to avoid the &#8220;vid&#8221; &#8211; our whole family has fallen pray to the virus.\u00a0 It got us.\u00a0 All of us.\u00a0 Actually, I thought I was in the clear, but\u00a0as of today, I can officially say &#8220;I have covid-19&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0I actually questioned whether I should even share it for fear of what people might say or think.\u00a0 That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m sharing.\u00a0 Because I think more people should share the experience and maybe then we wouldn&#8217;t be so anxious or fearful.<\/p>\n<p>I got the vaccines and I got the booster.\u00a0 And I firmly believe they helped.\u00a0 We have all been isolating and working from home and desperately want to get back out into the real world again.\u00a0 My symptoms aren&#8217;t so bad.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got a cough and a bit of a runny nose.\u00a0 Everybody in the house seemed to get different symptoms, some worse than others.\u00a0 Vaccines don&#8217;t mean you don&#8217;t get it.\u00a0 It means you don&#8217;t end up in the hospital.\u00a0 For that I am thankful.<\/p>\n<p>In one way I&#8217;m relieved that it finally hit our house so now I don&#8217;t have to worry so much.\u00a0 The first few days, when my oldest daughter came down with it, I was anxious. SO ANXIOUS.\u00a0 What would happen?\u00a0 How would it effect us?\u00a0 I was losing sleep.\u00a0 Seriously.\u00a0 But I&#8217;m someone who imagines every worst case scenario.\u00a0 You know.\u00a0 To prepare for it.\u00a0 Because when you go through tragedy in life, you tend to expect it to happen again and again.\u00a0 You wait, you plan.\u00a0 Like somehow we can control the world\u00a0 if we live expecting something bad to happen.\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 Doesn&#8217;t work that way.<\/p>\n<p>After all that we have been through together, it&#8217;s been really hard to watch the negativity online.\u00a0 The hate.\u00a0 The insults.\u00a0 The name calling.\u00a0 That isn&#8217;t who we are as a community or a country.\u00a0 \u00a0I think that after all we&#8217;ve had to deal with, all that we&#8217;ve lost, seeing all that online has been the hardest to deal with.\u00a0 We are so much better than that.\u00a0 We are a community that stands together and comes together whenever there is a need.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s not lose that identity.\u00a0 We can all have differences of opinion, thoughts and feelings.\u00a0 We have all been hit by this pandemic in different ways.\u00a0 We are all tired of it.\u00a0 But let&#8217;s not forget to be kind to each other, be compassionate and understanding.\u00a0 That&#8217;s where we shine.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In other news, we have a new refrigerator at home that makes ice and I can&#8217;t stop smiling. The littlest things can bring the most joy.\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 Our kitchen renovation is finally complete.\u00a0 We have running water again and don&#8217;t feel like we&#8217;re living in the Little House on the Prairie days.\u00a0 (smile) You have no idea how much you use a sink until you don&#8217;t have one for months.<\/p>\n<p>Our puppy chewed my phone case today and has learned to jump up on the couch, chair, bed &#8211; anywhere she feels she needs to be to be more comfortable, whether we are already sitting there.\u00a0 She&#8217;s growing so much and is basically sleeping through the night which is super exciting for us old folks.\u00a0 (smile).\u00a0 Puppies are WORK.\u00a0 But totally worth it for the love they show us.\u00a0 My palm tree plant is half the size it used to be.\u00a0 I&#8217;m down an insole, a shoelace, and a pair of pajama pants.\u00a0 But who&#8217;s counting?\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n<p>Totally loving Sweet Magnolias season two.\u00a0 Thanks for the recommendations~!
