I borrowed that title from the words of a podcast I listened to recently from Life’s Seasons Speaks.<\/a><\/p>\n

If Oprah was here she would call it one of those “aha” moments.\u00a0 When the words, the idea – just “clicks”.\u00a0 \u00a0Taking inventory I realize now is something I did for myself these past six months and it’s what led me to reach out and ask for help.\u00a0 \u00a0I took inventory.\u00a0 I sat with myself and evaluated my life.\u00a0 All of it.\u00a0 The tragedy.\u00a0 The challenges.\u00a0 The tough situations.\u00a0 And the amazing things that have happened.\u00a0 And the things I still want to do.\u00a0 I sat with myself and processed my life like I never have.\u00a0 I examined the things that I held onto that I should let go of.\u00a0 I look at the wounds left unhealed.\u00a0 I looked at the things I was holding onto that I needed to let go of.\u00a0 I looked at my own life with so much more gratitude and really began to realize just how short our time is on earth, and how easily it can be taken from us.\u00a0 Not that I didn’t know that.\u00a0 I’ve lived that sad story.\u00a0 I know how quickly people can be gone.\u00a0 In the blink of an eye. A fraction of a second can change your world.<\/p>\n

That’s the power of these podcasts for me.\u00a0 It’s like a therapy session with every listen.<\/p>\n

Something positive to come out of this pandemic, maybe?\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0When is the last time you checked in with yourself?\u00a0 When did you last take inventory of your life?\u00a0 \u00a0It’s healthy and it’s NORMAL and it’s something we need to do on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

I’ve been struggling with getting older because I realize I didn’t see my mom get older.\u00a0 I look down and see her hands.\u00a0 Or at least I used to.\u00a0 I look in the mirror and no longer see my mother and I was so upset by that for so long until I realized – maybe I do.\u00a0 I mean, IF my mom got the chance to live past 41, maybe she would look like me.\u00a0 I see my grandmother.\u00a0 Her smile.\u00a0 Her cheekbones.\u00a0 The “Belford” genes.\u00a0 So maybe, I am still her.<\/p>\n

It’s hard to get older, but how lucky that we do get older.\u00a0 I feel the words of this podcast though.\u00a0 Tina explaining because her kids lost their dad, she couldn’t get old.\u00a0 I feel that so much.\u00a0 I can’t leave my kids.\u00a0 I know what that feels like.\u00a0 To not be ready.\u00a0 To be left alone.\u00a0 To figure out life without your mom.\u00a0 I can’t do that to my kids.\u00a0 So this pandemic, with all the restrictions and frustrations that came with it, I felt like “yep, I need to do all that I can to make sure I stay here and stay healthy”.\u00a0 I need to be here for my kids and I need to be okay.<\/p>\n

Take inventory.<\/p>\n

Of all of it.\u00a0 All of life’s experiences.\u00a0 Good and bad.\u00a0 Your ever changing reflection.\u00a0 The wrinkles and gray hair.\u00a0 Looking for that familiar face.\u00a0 Remembering where you came from and what you’ve been through.\u00a0 Being thankful for it all.<\/p>\n
