Remember the 80’s?\u00a0 \u00a0The fashion. The movies.\u00a0 The music.<\/p>\n
What were you doing in the 80’s?\u00a0 What were you watching?\u00a0 \u00a0The Facts of Life.\u00a0 \u00a0Little House on the Prairie.\u00a0 The Smurfs.\u00a0 Dukes of Hazzard.<\/p>\n
Breakfast Club.\u00a0 Pretty in Pink.\u00a0 Footloose.\u00a0 The original Top Gun movie.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
We had parachute pants.\u00a0 \u00a0Jelly shoes.\u00a0 Crimped hair.\u00a0 \u00a0Ah, the memories.<\/p>\n

I was in high school in the 80’s.\u00a0 My family had just moved to Thedford when I started grade nine.\u00a0 New school.\u00a0 New friends.\u00a0 New everything.\u00a0 \u00a0I loved music.\u00a0 Duran Duran was my favourite, and I belonged to the Columbia Record and Tape club.\u00a0 A few times.\u00a0 (smile).\u00a0 That’s how you got more records and tapes for a penny.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n
I chopped my hair at the beginning of grade nine to look like one of the girls from Degrassi Jr High.\u00a0 I was devastated when it turned out so choppy and nothing like Caitlin.\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 Thankfully it grew quickly, and by grade twelve it was crimped and permed, and covered in Sun In for “colour”.<\/p>\n
My all black phase where I tried to take on a dark persona and my dad wondered why his daughter wanted to only wear black.\u00a0 To be cool, dad.\u00a0 Trying to be cool.\u00a0 Did it work?\u00a0 Not really.\u00a0 But it was sure full of good memories.<\/p>\n
High school dances.\u00a0 First crush.\u00a0 \u00a0First date.\u00a0 First kiss.\u00a0 First broken heart.\u00a0 \u00a0Best friends.\u00a0 \u00a0A waistline.\u00a0 \u00a0(smile)<\/p>\n
We had a juke box in our high school cafeteria and I remember always trying to get a favourite song on before the end of lunch. It also meant trying to find a seat IN the cafeteria which was always terrifying to me. (smile)<\/p>\n
Yep.\u00a0 Lots of great memories.<\/p>\n
What song(s) do you remember the most from the 80’s?\u00a0 I think of Duran Duran.\u00a0 Tears for Fears.\u00a0 \u00a0Spandau Ballet.\u00a0 Glass Tiger and Corey Hart.\u00a0 Posters on the wall. Teen magazines.<\/p>\n
So long ago and like yesterday at the same time.<\/p>\n
