{"id":21732,"date":"2022-12-15T14:51:40","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T19:51:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=21732"},"modified":"2022-12-15T15:14:30","modified_gmt":"2022-12-15T20:14:30","slug":"international-tea-day-brings-back-so-many-memories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2022\/12\/international-tea-day-brings-back-so-many-memories\/","title":{"rendered":"International Tea Day Brings Back So Many Memories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oh wow.\u00a0 So many memories.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah posted on the Fox Facebook page earlier today in celebration of today being International Tea Day and asked the question &#8220;What is your go to cuppa?&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>My first thought &#8211; Red Rose.\u00a0 With milk and sugar.\u00a0 \u00a0Love my cup of tea.\u00a0 \u00a0Especially at the end of the day or on a rainy, cold day.\u00a0 It&#8217;s comfort.\u00a0 But it also brings back so many memories.\u00a0 Reading all your comments on the Fox Facebook page and seeing all the love for Red Rose I remembered<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/newfoundland-labrador\/wade-whimsies-1.4930358\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> those figurines<\/a> that used to come in boxes of Red Rose tea.\u00a0 Anybody else remember them?\u00a0 I kept them for the longest time and was always excited to see what new figurine we&#8217;d get next.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t remember them exactly, but from what I have discovered today there were four different series of them.\u00a0 They started in Quebec in 1967.\u00a0 They became so popular they were then distributed all across Canada.\u00a0 Four different series including animals and nursery rhyme characters.<\/p>\n<p>My gramma got me into drinking tea.\u00a0 \u00a0It was always more milk than tea, and more sugar than I probably was allowed, but it was tasty and made me feel like a grown up.<\/p>\n<p>For those other Red Rose drinkers, did you know it goes back over 100 years to Wicklow, New Brunswick, when Theodore Harding Estabrooks opened the doors to his own business on Dock Street in Saint John, blending and packaging teas that was a first of it&#8217;s kind.\u00a0 Customers loved the taste and the business grew across Canada and into the United States as well.<\/p>\n<p>As for those collectable porcelain figurines?\u00a0 The two Canadian series focused on animal and nursery rhyme themes and remain highly collectable items.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-shortcode embed-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"610\" height=\"355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UPWBaNQxVWI\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div class=\"video-shortcode embed-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"610\" height=\"355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NUnbJAWk6gM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Oh wow.\u00a0 So many memories.
