There really are superheroes everywhere.\u00a0 They are in your workplace, in the grocery store and they are all over our community.<\/p>\n
They are there helping others when the need is great.\u00a0 \u00a0They jump into action to help others in any way they can.<\/p>\n
We saw that in a huge way with the recent fire at Fairwinds Lodge in Sarnia Sunday night.\u00a0 So many people rushed to help.\u00a0 Sarnia fire, police and EMS.\u00a0 Trillium Villa provided temporary shelter space.\u00a0 Sarnia Transit helped to transport the evacuees.\u00a0 Lambton College provided temporary shelter.\u00a0 People who simply lived nearby stepped up and helped where they could.<\/p>\n
The power of community.\u00a0 Superheroes in disguise.<\/p>\n
I bet you can think of someone right now who has been a superhero for you.\u00a0 Someone who stepped in at just the right time, at the right place.\u00a0 Someone who stepped up to help when you needed it.<\/p>\n
Let me tell you a story that just happened to me recently.<\/p>\n
I was driving my daughter home from school.\u00a0 Nothing seemed wrong.\u00a0 I dropped her off at home and as I headed out to go back to work, I noticed a noise I had not heard before.\u00a0 When I turned the steering wheel something felt different.\u00a0 I parked the car and got out to see I had a flat tire.\u00a0 Completely, on the rim, flat.<\/p>\n
I texted my husband, and I texted my boss.\u00a0 Unsure how I was going to fix this situation.<\/p>\n
That’s when a gentleman came by in his pick up truck, stopped, and asked if everything was okay.\u00a0 To which I replied, “Nope.\u00a0 I have a flat tire and not sure what to do”<\/p>\n
He parked his truck, hopped out and said he had tools to fix it. Even a plug kit.<\/p>\n
So he pumped up the tire, found the source of the leak, and fixed it.\u00a0 Just like that.\u00a0 \u00a0He noticed my tires were pretty worn as well and advised that I get them replaced sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n
He didn’t want anything for the work done.\u00a0 Though I might have offered a hug and extreme gratitude, and many thanks.\u00a0 He said he likes being able to help others.<\/p>\n
So incredibly thankful that he just so happened to be driving by at that exact moment.<\/p>\n
Everyday heroes.<\/p>\n
They are all around us.\u00a0 We just don’t see the cape.<\/p>\n
To all the people that show up for others when the need is there – thank you.\u00a0 From the bottom of our hearts.<\/p>\n
