{"id":30807,"date":"2024-08-27T13:45:56","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T17:45:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=30807"},"modified":"2024-08-27T14:12:50","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T18:12:50","slug":"empty-nesters-this-ones-for-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2024\/08\/empty-nesters-this-ones-for-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Empty Nesters &#8211; This One&#8217;s For You"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oh my goodness.\u00a0 I watched this video with Brooke Shields earlier this morning and I cried with her.\u00a0 Because I feel it.<\/p>\n<p>We are not yet empty nesters but we are getting closer.\u00a0 Our youngest daughter will be leaving the nest this weekend to start college next week and we aren&#8217;t ready for that goodbye.<\/p>\n<p>My son left home many years ago and is living his best life in Calgary now, but his leaving home felt different.\u00a0 It was gradual.\u00a0 And there were still two &#8220;young birds&#8221; at home in the nest.<\/p>\n<p>This feels very different and I thought I was handling it much better but as Saturday gets closer, I realize I&#8217;m not.\u00a0 And I&#8217;m pretty sure my husband isn&#8217;t okay either.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, we still have one at home.\u00a0 For now.\u00a0 Although we feel that is limited too as she gets older.<\/p>\n<p>How do you do it parents?\u00a0 How do you prepare your heart for your kids leaving home for the first time?\u00a0 \u00a0The last little while has been all about the organizing and making sure all the items on the list are checked off.\u00a0 Now the emotions are taking over and it feels scary and impossible to be ready for.<\/p>\n<p>Another stage in life that nobody can prepare you for.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"insta-iframe\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C_I7-WTOqb-\/embed\/captioned\" width=\"auto\" height=\"auto\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display:inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height:0;\"  class=\"mce_SELRES_start\"><\/span><\/iframe>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.instagram.com\/brookeshields\/\">http:\/\/www.instagram.com\/brookeshields\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Oh my goodness.\u00a0 I watched this video with Brooke Shields earlier this morning and I cried with her.\u00a0 Because I feel it.
