(smile)<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve managed to read more than I did last year, which is good, but I want to continue that trend.\u00a0 To read more, I realize I have to let go of some things and find time and be less &#8220;busy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Can you relate to always feeling busy?<\/p>\n<p>I picked up a book recently about finding a way to eliminate the hurry in our lives and it made me so aware of so many ways that I create a state of hurry.<\/p>\n<p>I feel it when I&#8217;m driving.\u00a0 I feel it when I wake up in the morning.\u00a0 As soon as I open my eyes my brain goes into overdrive thinking about the list of things to get done.\u00a0 It&#8217;s hard sometimes to settle myself and just sit still and drink my coffee.\u00a0 It&#8217;s so unrealistic to think about a million things in the first thirty seconds of opening your eyes but how many of us immediately feel the need to jump into action because of all the things we NEED TO DO right now?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s CRAZY!<\/p>\n<p>I got a lot of out this book.\u00a0 Taking time to sit still, with your own thoughts.\u00a0 Some of the suggestions offered &#8211; drive the speed limit.\u00a0 Gulp.\u00a0 Like, the ACTUAL speed limit?\u00a0 Who does that anymore? (smile)\u00a0 I will say sometimes I hate being on the road anymore because it can feel too fast for my liking.<\/p>\n<p>When you&#8217;re out shopping &#8211; pick the longest lane.\u00a0 Keep your phone in your pocket.\u00a0 And just wait with your own thoughts.\u00a0 Too many of us don&#8217;t even allow time to think for ourselves.\u00a0 We&#8217;re overloaded with information coming at us every minute of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Put your phone to bed like you do your kids.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t touch it for an hour after you wake up.\u00a0 \u00a0Set a time limit for using social media or email.\u00a0 Take the apps off your phone &#8211; like your social media and email.\u00a0 Could you?\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t been able to do that.\u00a0 But now I&#8217;m much more aware of how often I reach for my phone.<\/p>\n<p>The point of the book being we miss so many moments in life caught up in the busyness of it all.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve started leaving my phone at home in the morning when I take my dog for long walks and just taking time to appreciate the moment and soak in all the sights and sounds.<\/p>\n<p>I love a book that has the ability to help you see your life differently and even offer some ways to improve it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m ready for a life with less hurry.\u00a0 More stillness.\u00a0 More quiet.\u00a0 Less busy.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to check out the book &#8212; Ruthless Elimination of Hurry.<\/p>\n<p>And let me know what YOU are reading right now.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"One of my goals that I had for myself in 2024 was to read more.\u00a0 More real books and less Facebook walls.
