Do we somehow turn into toddlers throwing temper tantrums over things we no longer want to do as adults?\u00a0 Paying bills.\u00a0 Budgeting.\u00a0 Trying to find sales on all the things at the grocery store because who wants to pay full price for anything right now.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t want to exercise every day.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want to eat vegetables every day even if I know it&#8217;s better for me.\u00a0 And if you saw what I ate yesterday in pure defiance you would understand how reckless I can be. (smile) I don&#8217;t want to spend every weekend cleaning the house from the week.\u00a0 Seriously.\u00a0 What is even the point when we just keep making a mess?<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t want to come up with dinner ideas every single night. I don&#8217;t want my dad to get older.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want to let my kids go even if I know I have to because that&#8217;s what you do as a parent when they get older.\u00a0 That one is extra hard.\u00a0 Letting kids go away to school or across the country is HARD.\u00a0 So yeah, I&#8217;m in my &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to&#8221; era right now.\u00a0 Digging in my heels.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know about you &#8211; but when I have these days where life feels hard and full of &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to!&#8221; I reach for comfort food the most.<\/p>\n<p>The stuff that memories are made of.\u00a0 Those old recipes that have been passed down through the family.\u00a0 The foods that remind you of simpler days and times.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend I made some chicken noodle soup and tea biscuits.\u00a0 Both suprisingly easy to make and super tasty.\u00a0 The soup is a whole new experience for me in the last few years that I have been learning more and more about nutrition and food that is better for you, I&#8217;ve started making som<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-32104 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2025\/01\/c8303ef0-tea-biscuit-recipes-695x391.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"695\" height=\"391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2025\/01\/c8303ef0-tea-biscuit-recipes-695x391.jpg 695w, https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2025\/01\/c8303ef0-tea-biscuit-recipes-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2025\/01\/c8303ef0-tea-biscuit-recipes-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2025\/01\/c8303ef0-tea-biscuit-recipes.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>e new things.<\/p>\n<p>When you get a chicken from the grocery store &#8211; keep those bones!\u00a0 Throw them in the freezer so you can make soup another day.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s what I did this weekend &#8211; I threw them in a pot with some water and let it simmer all afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The tea biscuits were from an old Five Roses cookbook from my mom.\u00a0 Super easy to make and super yummy.<\/p>\n<p>What is your go to food when you have those hard days or when it&#8217;s super cold outside and you just need something to warm your bones?<\/p>\n<p>Let me know.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:cbuchanan@blackburnmedia.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cbuchanan@blackburnmedia.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And for those that want to make it &#8211; sharing an easy chicken noodle soup recipe I found online.\u00a0 It goes so well with the tea biscuits.<\/p>\n<p>1. Classic Chicken Noodle Soup<br \/>\nIngredients:<\/p>\n<p>1 tbsp olive oil<br \/>\n1 onion, diced<br \/>\n2 carrots, sliced<br \/>\n2 celery stalks, sliced<br \/>\n3 garlic cloves, minced<br \/>\n8 cups chicken broth<br \/>\n2 cups shredded cooked chicken<br \/>\n2 cups egg noodles<br \/>\n1 tsp dried thyme<br \/>\nSalt and pepper to taste<br \/>\nInstructions:<\/p>\n<p>Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Saut\u00e9 onion, carrots, and celery until softened (5-7 minutes).<br \/>\nAdd garlic and thyme, cooking for 1 more minute.<br \/>\nPour in chicken broth and bring to a boil.<br \/>\nAdd noodles and cook until tender (7-8 minutes).<br \/>\nStir in chicken, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 5 minutes.
