I think I may still be in “vacation mode”.\u00a0 \u00a0That has to be the sign of a really good vacation, right?<\/p>\n

We escaped to the Pinery this weekend, camping for the first time in our own tent trailer.\u00a0 We had a spot right on the river and it was just beautiful.<\/p>\n

So many birds!\u00a0 I used the Merlin app to track birds in the area.\u00a0 Amazing how many different kinds.\u00a0 I did manage to see a yellow warbler, a yellow finch, and a few other birds that I haven’t spotted here yet.<\/p>\n

There is something to be said about quiet and stillness.<\/p>\n

There was no tracking the time, no meeting any schedules or sticking to any kind of routine.\u00a0 \u00a0You woke up when you woke up.\u00a0 No alarms of any kind.\u00a0 No phones unless you had it in your hand to take a picture.\u00a0 No social media.\u00a0 No emails.\u00a0 Nothing but time to relax.<\/p>\n

I read a book and not social media posts.<\/p>\n

I sat and listened to birds and watched otters or beavers swim in the river.<\/p>\n

I rocked in a hammock and sat around a campfire and ate a few s’mores.<\/p>\n

And there was a turtle nest on our site that was marked off for us not to touch.\u00a0 If we had gotten to see baby turtles that would have been amazing to witness.\u00a0 Maybe another time.<\/p>\n

Can’t wait for our next camping adventure. But note to self – next time you decide to go on a camping adventure in the woods, leave the novel at home about a murder\/ mystery that takes part in the woods.\u00a0 That’s the stuff nightmares are made of.<\/p>\n
