{"id":33923,"date":"2025-07-03T14:27:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T18:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=33923"},"modified":"2025-07-03T14:49:30","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T18:49:30","slug":"just-say-no-to-too-much-screen-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2025\/07\/just-say-no-to-too-much-screen-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Just Say No To Too Much Screen Time?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sounds impossible but also so needed.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know about you &#8211; but I feel like some days I am glued to a screen.\u00a0 Whether it&#8217;s a computer screen through the workday, or scrolling my social media feeds on my phone in the morning and at night.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to put that phone down when the information coming at you never stops.\u00a0 New videos, new posts, new people to follow.\u00a0 Constant information.\u00a0 Constant distraction.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m embarassed to admit how much time I spend with my phone in my hand &#8211; so when I came across a digital detox challenge online &#8211; I didn&#8217;t hesitate.\u00a0 I checked &#8220;YES&#8221; right away.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thechallenge.org\/digital-detox-challenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Digital Detox Challenge<\/a> started July 1 &#8211; and so far I&#8217;m not showing up the way I&#8217;d hoped.\u00a0 So maybe &#8211; if I know someone else (like YOU) is doing it too &#8211; it will be easier.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s FREE. It&#8217;s 31 days.\u00a0 Each day, you&#8217;re encouraged to &#8220;cut screen time and embrace offline moments to boost clarity and connection with a few scientifically backed perks like:<\/p>\n<p>IMproved mental well-being. Reduces anxiety and depression, boosting mood and clarity.<\/p>\n<p>Better sleep.<\/p>\n<p>Enhanced social connection.<\/p>\n<p>What it looks like?<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 2 Hours Screen-Free<\/p>\n<p>Limit recreational social media use to 30 minutes per day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; No Phone During Meals<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; (Optional) Screenless Sunday: Go all-in with a full day or 8 consecutive hours screen-free each Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>I want more of that.\u00a0 So I am committing to it.\u00a0 And it will start this weekend as we go away to do a little camping.\u00a0 A focus on nature, swatting mosquitoes, eating marshmallows and getting lost in the peace of a weekend away.<\/p>\n<p>Let me know if you&#8217;re willing to do the challenge too!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:cbuchanan@blackburnmedia.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cbuchanan@blackburnmedia.ca<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sounds impossible but also so needed.
