Mama, I’m Coming Home was one of my favourites if I had to choose. The heavy metal was never my favourite genre, but I sure can appreciate Ozzy as an artist. I loved to see how he and his family lived on the MTV Reality show “The Osbournes”. If only subtitles were a thing back then I probably would have understood more of what was said (smile). But seriously, they really did change the game of reality tv.

No, there was nobody on the planet like Ozzy and that’s probably a really good thing. He knew how to sing, knew how to rock, and sure knew how to make people laugh – and even through tough times, he was a family man. That’s what I loved about The Osbournes. You saw him as a husband and father, and overall average guy. Who just happened to be a huge rock star. Prince of Darkness. All that. That was a part of who he was, but not all of who he was.

The loss of another legend is another reminder of the power of music. It has the ability to connect us, bring us together and share in something incredible.

My heart goes out to his family and friends as they grieve.

I found this video of Cyndi Lauper who performed last night in North Carolina, and took a moment with the audience to remember and celebrate Ozzy Osbourne.

Cyndi cued up “Crazy Train” on her phone, held the speaker up to the mic, and invited the audience to sing along in tribute to the Prince of Darkness. A beautiful thing for a crowd to come together and sing along and remember. When the song ended she turned the flashlight on on her phone, and simply said: “For Ozzy”

Yesterday afternoon, the sad news broke that the legendary musician Ozzy Osbourne had passed away after a years long battle with Parkinson disease.
