Is there a charity or organization that is near and dear to your heart?<\/p>\n

Today is the day to show them some extra love.\u00a0 It’s\u00a0 Giving Tuesday!~\u00a0 \u00a0The whole idea of today started in 2012, as a single day, set aside, to counter consumerism.\u00a0 The day following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.\u00a0 It’s a day to give back – whether it’s with a donation or with your time.\u00a0 It can be as simple as making someone smile, helping a neighbour or even a stranger.\u00a0 Showing up for an issue or people we care about or giving some of what we have to those in need.<\/p>\n

Locally – you can give to the United Way as they continue towards their yearly goal.\u00a0 Four weeks to go and they are falling short.\u00a0 Any donations greatly appreciated and help so many groups in our community.\u00a0\u00a0The United Way provides funding for 28 local programs offered through 16 agencies across the community including River City Vineyard, Sarnia-Lambton Rebound and Lambton Elderly Outreach.\u00a0 To find out more or to donate online visit the United Way’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Make a donation to the Inn of the Good Shepherd or local food pantry.\u00a0 Pick up a few extra items for our annual Family To Family event<\/a> coming this Friday at Teppermans.\u00a0 We are collecting donations of NON-TRADITIONAL items to help families in our community for the holiday season and beyond.\u00a0 The need is great.<\/p>\n

Supporting local helps as well.\u00a0 Think of local businesses as you shop this holiday season.\u00a0 Gift certificates from Tourism Sarnia-Lambton make a great gift idea and can be used to shop at over 275 locations in the area.\u00a0 Supporting local businesses means supporting local people and families and that is a great way to give back.<\/p>\n

Always remember that you never know what someone is going through and you never know what a difference it could make to someone else if you just smiled, or said hello, or opened a door or offered to help.<\/p>\n
