This song is for anyone who\u2019s ever looked up their ex\u2019s new life and regretted it instantly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u00d8L\u00d8 says: \u201cthe punisher\u201d is about that sick twisted ritual we all do after a breakup: stalking your ex on the internet (and their new girlfriend\u2026and her sister\u2026and her sister\u2019s boyfriend\u2026and yes, even the new girlfriend\u2019s sister\u2019s dog) even though you KNOW it\u2019s going to ruin your entire day. I wrote it during a moment where I caught myself doing exactly that and thought to myself \u201cwhy am I literally choosing violence against my own heart?\u201d As I continued to piece together my ex\u2019s new life through photos on the internet, I couldn\u2019t understand why I felt addicted to punishing myself. It was almost like some part of me weirdly enjoyed it, as I found myself looking forward to checking in almost every day, playing his new life out in my head. I guess there\u2019s something weirdly fascinating about knowing exactly where to find your sore spot, and pressing on it anyway.
