Our first, official &#8211; Wellness Wednesday!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wellness Wednesday is about taking time to understand why it&#8217;s so important we focus on our physical and mental health.  I wanted to create a space to offer some practical ways you can take care of your mental and physical health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life&#8217;s Seasons Care &amp; Support offers trauma based counselling to our area. And they offer their counselling services on a sliding scale making it affordable for EVERYONE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every Wednesday we&#8217;ll take about practical ways you can prioritize your mental health and share what you can do to help yourself.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>Today we got the chance to talk to Paul Skuza &#8211; General Manager &#8211; of the Jerry McCaw Family Center YMCA.  We talked about the real benefits of exercise and got a quick example of an easy move we can do in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Exercise is probably the best thing you can do when it comes to your overall wellness&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Exercise is at the top of the list because it gets so many things happening in your body from your strength, to your cardio, to your mobility, to your flexibility&#8230; movement and exercise has such a significant, positive impact on your mental well being&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s never too late to get started.  If you don&#8217;t have a routine yet &#8211; make it a priority.  Start with a few days a week, half an hour &#8211; go through a simple routine &#8211; and mix it up. Strength, flexibility and cardio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a confidence booster &#8211; exercise really helps with anxiety, and depression and some negative things we all deal with on a day to day, week to week basis.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul says, &#8220;Closest thing, in my opinion, to a miracle drug or you know, a miracle pill, is physical exercise&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;Y&#8221; has some great options to help you get started.
