It’s part of the “teen speak” I’ve been introduced to this week.\u00a0 It’s hard to keep up.<\/p>\n
It seems every week my kids are trying to teach me the language.\u00a0 At least, the language they WANT me to know.\u00a0 Parents, how well do you feel you are able to keep up with this language that seems to constantly be updated?<\/p>\n
Deuces was introduced to me by my thirteen year old this week.\u00a0 Which, I guess, means goodbye?<\/p>\n
They laugh when I try to use their language on them.<\/p>\n
“Spill the tea” refers to gossip.<\/p>\n
Salty – means bitter.<\/p>\n
Sic – something that is cool.\u00a0 It’s a positive word.<\/p>\n
Awks – is awkward.<\/p>\n
Skurt –\u00a0 go away.\u00a0 \u00a0 It’s become one of my favourite words.\u00a0 I like to use it when driving a lot.\u00a0 When cars tailgate me and then finally pass.\u00a0 Skurt skurt.\u00a0 \u00a0It makes my kids laugh when I try to be cool and come across as anything but.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n
TBH – to be honest<\/p>\n
BRB – be right back<\/p>\n
RN – right now.<\/p>\n
I try to keep up when they text me these acronyms.\u00a0 \u00a0I’ve googled more than one TBH.\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 See what I did there?<\/p>\n
And my kids don’t tend to use punctuation in their texts which can lead to some confusing conversations at times.\u00a0 I understand more by their use of emoji’s sometimes than I do with the actual words. I know.\u00a0 Awks. (smile)<\/p>\n
