{"id":8598,"date":"2020-04-07T12:00:53","date_gmt":"2020-04-07T16:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=8598"},"modified":"2020-04-07T11:05:41","modified_gmt":"2020-04-07T15:05:41","slug":"do-you-journal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2020\/04\/do-you-journal\/","title":{"rendered":"Do You Journal?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I like the idea of journalling.\u00a0 I lack consistency.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve started many journals over the years, and usually give up after a week or so.<\/p>\n<p>I think I use my Facebook page as a journal some days.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not afraid to share what&#8217;s on my mind &#8211; good or bad.\u00a0 I think we connect to each other when we share honestly and openly.<\/p>\n<p>Some stuff, I know, is best kept to yourself.\u00a0 Sometimes we just need to work through all those thoughts and feelings, and right now is the perfect time to start doing that.<\/p>\n<p>A journal doesn&#8217;t have to be fancy or expensive.<\/p>\n<p>You could use any notebook to get started.\u00a0 I&#8217;m a sucker for notebooks and pretty pens from the dollar store, so it&#8217;s safe to say I have a few laying around.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, when you might be feeling overwhelmed with the situation and feeling so many emotions, you can use your journal to write down any thoughts, feelings and plans.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to get started.<\/p>\n<p>First &#8211; pick a journal or notebook.<\/p>\n<p>Start small.\u00a0 Write down one daily win or happy thought.<\/p>\n<p>Make a gratitude list.\u00a0 Sometimes when it feels dark and scary, it&#8217;s easy to lose focus on what is right in front of you.\u00a0 Find 5 things to be grateful for every single day and don&#8217;t repeat any of it.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll soon refocus on all that is good.<\/p>\n<p>Write a letter to yourself.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve done this before in fitness group challenges online.\u00a0 It&#8217;s amazing what thoughts come out when you do this.<\/p>\n<p>Draw &#8211;\u00a0sometimes a journal entry can be a doodle.\u00a0 I love to scribble\/ doodle. It helps me focus and settle my thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>Make a list of things you can&#8217;t control and can control.\u00a0 I am a control freak by nature.\u00a0 I constantly need to remind myself of these things.\u00a0 Focus on what you CAN control and you will feel so much more calm. I CAN control what I read, watch, and who I follow on social media.\u00a0 I CAN control what I do to take care of myself right now &#8211; stay home, wash hands A LOT.\u00a0 And sometimes, it&#8217;s small things &#8211; like making the bed in the morning, showering and putting on real clothes.\u00a0 It all helps to feel in control.<\/p>\n<p>We are in this together.\u00a0 We might feel more alone than ever, but we are strong.\u00a0 We will overcome this.<\/p>\n<p>Find a way to take care of your mental and emotional health as we go through this strange time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I like the idea of journalling.\u00a0 I lack consistency.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve started many journals over the years, and usually give up after a week or so.
