My youngest daughter – my BABY – turned 14 yesterday.\u00a0 \u00a0I spent the day looking through all the old pictures.\u00a0 She was both embarrassed and curious.<\/p>\n

This picture (below) is one of my favourites.\u00a0 I think she was two.\u00a0 So I asked her to recreate it. Or give it a good shot.<\/p>\n

She laughed at me as I attempted it.\u00a0 Then she did what she always does – took charge – and took control over the photo process. I love that we have this.<\/p>\n

For the past few weeks she’s been feeling the disappointment “can’t wait to celebrate my quarantine birthday”.<\/p>\n

She had wanted more.\u00a0 She wanted to spend the day with her friends.\u00a0 She wanted big things.<\/p>\n

So we had to make it special in our own way and it didn’t turn out so bad.<\/p>\n

I would say it was simple in the way it used to be.\u00a0 At least for me.<\/p>\n

We had cake, presents, but overall we had each other.\u00a0 We had family time.\u00a0 We had a day of sharing memories, and looking through pictures.<\/p>\n

One of my favourite things to give her this year I had made.\u00a0 It was very last minute.\u00a0 \u00a0I saw a picture online and reached out to a friend of mine who runs Zurora Design Studio<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Let me just tell you – it was done so quickly and it looked AMAZING.<\/p>\n

I couldn’t wait to show her.\u00a0 I couldn’t wait to see her face.<\/p>\n

She couldn’t stop smiling when she opened it.\u00a0 She wore it all day.\u00a0 She took pictures.\u00a0 Shared it with her friends online.<\/p>\n

It will certainly go down as a birthday to remember.<\/p>\n

Our next order goes in tomorrow –\u00a0 “Bro – I’m an essential”\u00a0 – for my daughter’s boyfriend who has been working a crazy amount of hours at a grocery store.\u00a0 A gift to let him know he’s appreciated.<\/p>\n

He should be in school.\u00a0 Instead he’s getting full time hours and then some.<\/p>\n

It made my daughter’s birthday brighter and brought a little humour to the situation, and gives her a souvenir to remember the day.<\/div>\n
