So it’s almost the long weekend.\u00a0 \u00a0We should be celebrating.\u00a0 We should be gardening.\u00a0 \u00a0We should be camping.\u00a0 Going without showers.\u00a0 Sleeping uncomfortably in tents and trailers.\u00a0 Eating s’mores and burnt hot dogs over the fire.\u00a0 Maybe, in the spirit of the camping I’m missing, I’ll stay in my weekend clothes, not shower, and eat burnt hot dogs anyway.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n
It’s hard not to feel sad, mad, frustrated and disappointed.\u00a0 Usually the long weekend is something we look forward to.\u00a0 We count down the days.\u00a0 We plan. We pack. We prepare.\u00a0 We get excited.<\/p>\n
This year is very different.<\/p>\n
Typically we get into the gardens.\u00a0 \u00a0First, it’s been too cold to enjoy much time outside.\u00a0 This weekend is expected to rain. A lot.\u00a0 Not sure how much I’ll be in the garden.\u00a0 To be honest, I’m the person that plants things in the fall and forgets.\u00a0 Or I dig things up and move them around. And forget. So right now, every day leads to a bit of a surprise.\u00a0 I’m still waiting to see what pops up where.\u00a0 And then I’ll start shopping for new plants.\u00a0 And trying to find ways to make my garden space a bit bigger without my husband noticing.<\/p>\n
Goats. 200 of them.\u00a0 Wandered a community in California.<\/p>\n
They had one job. (smile).\u00a0 They were supposed to be clearing dead weeds and brush from a hill in California and they found a way to get loose from their enclosure on Tuesday and ran wild in an east San Jose neighbourhood.<\/p>\n
And the comments on Twitter are hilarious.<\/p>\n
“The earth is healing. We are the virus.”<\/p>\n
“Damn, even the goats are tired of staying home.”<\/p>\n
“Wait, they\u2019re not wearing masks. They are crowding together.”<\/p>\n
A rancher DID wrangle all the goats in about five minutes and put them back in their enclosure.\u00a0 A few damaged flower gardens, but no humans injured by what some area jokingly calling “The Great Goat Stampede of 2020”.<\/p>\n
