Have you seen the post making it’s way around social media about the most influential albums?<\/p>\n
I usually pass on those things where you have to commit to 10 days of pictures\/ posts.\u00a0 But it got me thinking.\u00a0 I’m not sure full albums actually influenced me or had an impact on me.\u00a0 I think it’s more individual songs.<\/p>\n
I think your songs tell your story.\u00a0 Songs speak to a moment in time. Highs.\u00a0 Lows.\u00a0 First love.\u00a0 Friendship.\u00a0 Death.\u00a0 Heartache.<\/p>\n
Dancing in the living room as a kid as my mom played the Beatles Twist and Shout.\u00a0 Remembering her dancing around the house to Neil Diamond or Michael Jackson.<\/p>\n
Driving in the van as kids, listening to dad’s 8-track cassettes.\u00a0 Tie A Yellow Ribbon round that old oak tree….<\/p>\n
I can tell you the first song I danced to with a boy in high school.\u00a0 U2.\u00a0 \u00a0With or Without You. I still remember the butterflies.<\/p>\n
I can tell you the first song I bought. On 45.\u00a0 When those existed.\u00a0 Spandeau Ballet.\u00a0 True. Ask my brother, I played that over and over and over.<\/p>\n
Falling asleep in the driveway with a friend as Depeche Mode’s Greatest Hits played on repeat. Memories of carefree summer days.\u00a0 Driving around with friends, going to the beach, Grand Bend.<\/p>\n
I can tell you the song they played at a memorial for my family.\u00a0 Bette Midler – Wind Beneath My Wings.\u00a0 It still makes me cry and will forever mean so much.<\/p>\n
I can tell you the song I danced with my husband with for the first time. Chris DeBurgh – Lady In red.\u00a0 Our first date, dance and kiss.<\/p>\n
Our wedding song – Shania Twain – You’ve Got A Way.<\/p>\n
The song I danced with my dad to at my wedding – Garth Brooks – The Dance.<\/p>\n
Songs that have helped me through tough times.\u00a0 Songs that have inspired or lifted me up.<\/p>\n
Duran Duran got me through my teenage years.\u00a0 I know every word of every song.<\/p>\n
Madonna – singing at the top of my lungs, wishing to be more like her.<\/p>\n
Songs from Pound Class that inspire and motivate and bring out that inner rock star – Demi Lovato – Confident.<\/p>\n
Songs I danced to when I got to have the time of my life at Sarnia’s Dancing With the Stars – Great Big World – Say Something.\u00a0 And Jennifer Warnes – time of My Life just thinking about the event.<\/p>\n
So many songs.\u00a0 Too many to name.\u00a0 Each one has the ability to stop time and transport me back to a moment I will never forget.\u00a0 For good or bad.<\/p>\n
