What a day.\u00a0 What a week.\u00a0 It seems this week went on especially long.\u00a0 I’m tired.\u00a0 Soul tired.<\/p>\n
News headlines are heart breaking.\u00a0 The world is in need of love, kindness, compassion, empathy, understanding. Headlines are showing us the opposite.<\/p>\n
I think we are all feeling it.<\/p>\n
The effects of this pandemic are taking it’s toll.\u00a0 We’re tired.\u00a0 We want life to go back to normal.\u00a0 We want our freedoms back.\u00a0 It’s easy to focus on what we are missing, and what we feel we are losing, giving up, sacrificing.\u00a0 But we need to remember why we are doing it.\u00a0 As Mitch Albom writes<\/a> “it’s not about us”,\u00a0 \u00a0“we are all potential victims and potential killers”.<\/p>\n Something to think about.<\/p>\n I am no expert.\u00a0 I’m just someone trying to get through it.\u00a0 I want to go back to normal too.\u00a0 But at what expense?\u00a0 I’m not feeling ready to get back into the world.\u00a0 Not yet.\u00a0 I go for drives and see the “stay safe” signs and I wonder “how much longer?”.\u00a0 \u00a0 I see the masked shoppers at the grocery store, and it reminds me of how much our world has changed.\u00a0 I don’t want to be uncomfortable – because I know they are for everybody’s good – but it feels uncomfortable.\u00a0 \u00a0That THIS is the normal we are growing accustomed to.<\/p>\n ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-<\/p>\n Video chats are the new normal.\u00a0 Work meetings done on a phone screen.\u00a0 Delayed conversation.\u00a0 Overlapped conversation.\u00a0 It’s not the same. And people are suffering from too much Zoom.\u00a0 Zoom fatigue is a real thing.\u00a0 We don’t really like it.\u00a0 It’s awkward.\u00a0 \u00a0And there are scientific reasons<\/a> why we are getting so annoyed by it.\u00a0 It’s timing, it’s a lack of small talk, conversations aren’t balanced, there are no typical “cues” to follow like when you are speaking with someone face-to-face.<\/p>\n As much as I like seeing a co-worker or friend on my video screen, it’s not the same, and I’ve always said “I just don’t LIKE it.”\u00a0 It feels uncomfortable to me.\u00a0 I still prefer sending a message than having to stare at my own face on the screen awkwardly for 10 minutes.\u00a0 It’s like constantly looking in the mirror and I hate that awkward feeling.<\/p>\n ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————<\/p>\n A new report reveals the most Googled celebrity homes<\/a>.\u00a0 \u00a0It looks like we want a peak inside the homes of\u00a0\u00a0Kim Kardashian and Kanye West,\u00a0Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith\u2019, Kylie Jenner (who’s $36.5 million dollar home has it’s own Instagram account)\u00a0 Ellen DeGeneres,\u00a0 Elon Musk, Ed Sheeran, and even Justin Bieber has us curious to see where he lays his hat in Ontario with his wife Hailey.<\/p>\n One thing I DID find to get way too excited about this week?\u00a0 The cast of All My Children did a reunion of sorts. On Zoom.\u00a0 And for those of us who have called All My Children their “story” or “soap” in the past, it’s pretty cool to see a few of your favourite characters on the screen again.\u00a0 Remembering all those crazy characters and story lines.\u00a0 Erica Cane. Palmer. Tad. Dixie.\u00a0 Interesting to see just how many talented actors got their start on that show.\u00a0 I couldn’t stop watching.\u00a0 It was a week long event, part of Entertainment Weekly’s ongoing #UnitedAtHome series.\u00a0 A new episode released every day this week, with TWO released today.\u00a0 The AMC cast chose to support Feeding America, putting food on the tables of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n Watch the videos HERE.<\/a><\/p>\n
