Garth Brooks Asks Chase Rice To Open Detroit Concert
February 19, 2020 5:30 amGarth Brooks plays his first Stadium Tour concert of the year on Saturday, February 22nd at Ford Field in Detroit. It’s already a history-making show with the stadium’s largest attendance ever at a one-night music event.
Garth will be joined by a special guest opener at all the stadium shows.
“Like always, our ‘job’ is to get these opening acts out, so there’s not ‘one’ . . . and watch these kids get terrified walking out (on) that stage. And you love it ‘cause it brings back all the times you were scared to death! It’s great to watch ‘em break down in tears out there, and you’re going, ‘Oh, this is awesome!’ So, that’s what I love about opening acts. So, we’ll probably just keep doing what we do and go. And I do actually know who’s going to be in Detroit – it’s gonna be a fun one.”
On Monday, February 17th, Garth revealed that Saturday’s opener will be Chase Rice and Chase joined him on Garth’s Inside Studio G on Facebook.
The announcement brings full circle a story that began last summer. Last summer during CMA Fest in Nashville, Chase was doing an interview with Entertainment Tonight where he revealed that his lifelong idol is Garth. The superstar popped in on the interview to surprise Chase and invite him to open one of his stadium shows.
