History Making Moments From The ACM Awards
September 18, 2020 10:00 amThe 2020 ACM Awards were out-of-the-ordinary.
Here are some of the moments that were either record-setting or history-making.
1. The tie between Carrie Underwood and Thomas Rhett for Entertainer of the Year was a first for the ACMs, but there’s also NEVER been a tie for Best Male, Best Female, Best Duo, or Best Group. The same goes for the CMAs.
2. Carrie now holds the record for most ACM Entertainer of the Year awards for a female. She passed Taylor Swift who has two. (Carrie won in 2009 and 2010 . . . Taylor’s wins were in 2011 and 2012.)
3. Mickey Guyton became the first solo female Black artist to perform her own material on the show.
4. Miranda Lambert won her 35th trophy, which made her the most-awarded ACM artist of all time, male or female.
5. It was the first time the ACMs were held in Nashville. The ACM’s were previously held in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and one time in Dallas, Texas.
