Lady A has been countersued by the other “Lady A,” Seattle blues singer Anita White.

Rolling Stone reports the suit was filed on Tuesday, September 15th, claiming trademark infringement and unfair competition.

Lady A members Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood sued White in July “to affirm our right to continue to use the name Lady A, a trademark we have held for many years.”

In June, the group is formerly known as Lady Antebellum legally changed their name to their long-standing nickname, Lady A, in response to the Black Lives Matter movement.

In her suit, White claims that the group’s use of Lady A infringes her trademark rights and that since they started using the name, she has suffered “lost sales, diminished brand identity, and diminution in the value of and goodwill associated with the mark.”

In addition, the suit says that “internet and social media searches for ‘Lady A,’ which had readily returned results for her music, were now dominated by references to Lady Antebellum. Ms. White’s LADY A brand had been usurped and set on the path to erasure.”
