Wynonna Judd made a surprise appearance during Carly Pearce’s set at CMA Fest in downtown Nashville on Friday, July 10th.

She took the stage at Nissan Stadium where the two performed The Judds’ 1984 hit “Why Not Me” in tribute to the late Naomi Judd.

The Tennessean reports that Carly addressed the crowd saying,

“CMA Fest, we lost one of our absolute pillars in country music earlier this year: Miss Naomi Judd. As a girl growing up in Kentucky, I idolized the Judds and wanted to be like them. My first concert was to see Wynonna. And I’ve always loved all of the music that the Judds made and feel like it is such a representation of the best of country music, So CMA Fest, please make welcome Wynonna Judd.”

Wynonna is gearing up to hit the road this September on what was to be The Judds’ reunion tour.

She will now perform the 11-date run solo with the help of such Nashville stars as Brandi Carlile, Faith Hill, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Ashley McBryde and Trisha Yearwood on select dates.

Naomi Judd took her own life in April at her Franklin, TN area home.
