Dixie Chicks Founding Member Killed In Car Crash
December 27, 2023 5:55 amLaura Lynch, one of the founding members of the Dixie Chicks has died at the age of 65.
According to People.com, she was in a head-on collision on Friday, December 22 in Texas and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lynch was travelling eastbound on Highway 62 in Hudspeth County when another westbound driver attempted to pass a vehicle on a two-way undivided portion of the road. That driver struck Lynch’s vehicle head-on and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Laura Lynch was the original bassist and vocalist and recorded with the Dixie Chicks on their first three albums.
She left in 1993 and was replaced by Natalie Maines two years later.
The Chicks broke into the mainstream with their fourth LP in 1998, Wide Open Spaces.
