Uncle Kracker Had No Idea Who Kenny Chesney Was

It’s hard to imagine a time when Kenny Chesney wasn’t a household name, but for Uncle Kracker, the name didn’t ring a bell.

Kracker said Kid Rock called him and said that Chesney wanted him to join a huge concert he was doing in Tennessee in the early 2000s.

He told Kid Rock he didn’t know who that was, but he might be interested.

Not only did Uncle Kracker do the show, but they became fast friends, and it wasn’t long until they’d collaborated on a few songs, including “When the Sun Goes Down”.

He said they still talk “a few times a week, easily.”
