Rhett Akins Honoured By Thomas Rhett

If you somehow didn’t know, Thomas Rhett’s father is country singer Rhett Akins.  Thomas’ full name is Thomas Rhett Akins, Jr.

And the other night, the two of them shared a really special moment onstage.

Rhett Akins received the Non-Performing Songwriter Icon Award by the National Music Publishers’ Association, and Thomas was in the house to honor him with a song they wrote together.

When Rhett got up to give his acceptance speech, he was overcome with emotion.  He said, “I never would have dreamed all the years we sat in the kitchen playing guitars and writing little dumb songs turned out to be this.”
