Carrie Underwood Fires Back At ‘American Idol’ Audience Who Booed Her Critiques
March 5, 2026 6:30 amCarrie Underwood recently faced a wave of boos from the live audience during “Hollywood Week” on American Idol after she delivered some tough love to the contestants.
The tension peaked when she critiqued a singer named Mor for choosing to perform an original song instead of using the show’s professional house band to showcase his range.
As the crowd voiced their disapproval, Underwood didn’t flinch; instead, she leaned into the moment, telling the audience that their boos were “feeding” her and reminding them that they aren’t the ones making the judging decisions.
Later she posted a message that simply read, “Boo me. I don’t care.”
Fellow judge Luke Bryan also jumped to her defense during the broadcast, reminding the audience that as a former Idol champion herself, Underwood knows exactly what it takes to win the competition.
Despite the backlash from the stands, Underwood made it clear that she values honesty over popularity and has no plans to sugarcoat her feedback for the sake of the crowd.
