March 16th – 20th is Canadian Agricultural Safety Week!

We want to thank all of our local farmers and make sure they stay safe. We’ve teamed up with the Lambton Farm Safety Association to remind all those who work in the agricultural industry to make safety a priority. We’re also giving away great prizes from our partners!

THANKS TO OUR PARTNERS:

Each weekday, from March 16th – 20th, we’ll giveaway a gift certificate from one of our partners. Enter below for your chance to win!

Repairs
We’ve all seen the damage that a leaky tap can cause if not repaired right away. The same holds true for valuable farm equipment. Farmers spend a great deal of money on machinery and rely on every piece to help get their products to market. So take care of those minor repairs now, before they cause major problems.

Equipment
You wouldn’t dream of leaving your car running while filling it up at the gas station. But are you as careful with your farm equipment? Always shut off, lock up, lockout, and tag out equipment when working on it to avoid getting crushed or entangled in it if something fails or gets inadvertently turned on.

Grain Tip
It only takes a split second for a life-altering tragedy to occur. One of the easiest ways to get hurt or killed is working around flowing grains. Don’t take a chance. Stay out of grain bins and wagons while loading and unloading.

Guard Tip
As much as you may need your tractors, backhoes, balers, plows, cultivators, and belt pulleys…your family needs you to stay safe and healthy even more. Using each piece of equipment in a responsible manner will go a long way towards making sure that happens, and that includes keeping all guards and shields in place.

Age Tip
A child’s first hero is their parent, so it’s understandable why a little one might want to get out and work the fields with them. But it’s important to remember that a young person is just that – young. So make sure that all those operating machinery are well trained and age appropriate.
