In this case, the 24th falls on a Sunday &#8211; but by this time<br \/>\nlast year, the gears were already in motion for what would become Sarnia&#8217;s very own<br \/>\nEarth Sandwich with some help from Australia.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s an Earth Sandwich?<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s where you throw two pieces of bread on the ground on exact opposite sides of<br \/>\nthe world.. for fun. Because what could possibly go wrong, right?<br \/>\nThe events are in reverse order &#8211; Newest to oldest updates on the attempt, with<br \/>\nthe payoff displayed in all it&#8217;s awesomeness first, as you can see below&#8230;<br \/>\n#waybackwednesday<\/p>\n<p>01\/24\/2020 \u2013 Update: We DID it @! That\u2019s right \u2013 our very own bright blue marble, floating<br \/>\nin space, in orbit around the star, Sol. The home to every human being that has<br \/>\never lived, loved\u00a0 fought, struggled, conquered and died -has been slapped between<br \/>\ntwo pieces of bread on opposite sides \u2013 and made into a planetary sandwich.<\/p>\n<p>So how did we do it?<\/p>\n<p>A guy in New Zealand teamed up with a guy on the direct opposite side of<br \/>\nthe world in Spain and they both put pieces of bread on the ground \u2013 and took<br \/>\npictures \u2013\u00a0to make an \u201cEarth sandwich\u201d. That\u2019s 12 thousand kilometers of Earthy<br \/>\ningredients between two pieces of bread.<\/p>\n<p>To make a sandwich of our own from Sarnia Ontario, we first must find our<br \/>\nantipode. An\u00a0<b>antipode<\/b>, or\u00a0<b>antipodal point<\/b>, is\u00a0the point\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0planet that is<br \/>\nlocated diametrically opposite to a specific geographic location, and therefore,<br \/>\nis\u00a0the\u00a0farthest\u00a0point\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0world from that location. Sarnia\u2019s antipodal point is<br \/>\n<strong>Augusta, Western<\/strong>\u00a0Australia, which you can see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.geodatos.net\/en\/antipodes\/canada\/ontario\/sarnia\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-12788 \" src=\"https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2021\/01\/29822302-earthsandwich-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"463\" height=\"557\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Historians may argue that Earth sandwiches may already have been accidentally<br \/>\nmade many times throughout unrecorded history by sheer accident,\u00a0 like when two<br \/>\npeople on opposite sides of the world, say, drop\u00a0a piece of bread by utter coincidence,<br \/>\nbutter side down at the very same time\u2026 it certainly falls into\u00a0the realm of possibility.<\/p>\n<p>However,\u00a0 this recorded attempt \u2013 marks a first in RECORDED history \u2013 a partnership<br \/>\nbetween private citizens in Spain and New Zealand- pioneers you could even call them \u2013<br \/>\nin turning our planet into a sandwich, with photographic proof.<\/p>\n<p>You can witness this historical event\u2026..\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-asia-51171834\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Let&#8217;s do the Wednesday Time Warp &#8211; or as I like to hashtag it, #waybackwednesday and see what we were doing 1 year ago.
