{"id":16920,"date":"2021-11-10T06:33:11","date_gmt":"2021-11-10T11:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/chokfm\/?p=16920"},"modified":"2021-11-05T09:55:50","modified_gmt":"2021-11-05T13:55:50","slug":"wash-the-stress-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/chokfm\/blogs\/morning-show\/2021\/11\/wash-the-stress-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Wash The Stress Away&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Why are these Power Washing videos<br \/>\nSO strangely satisfying??<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"video-shortcode embed-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"620\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vcxhylh9XQc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div><br \/>\nWhere has this been all my life??????<br \/>\nAw man, Seriously It&#8217;s been THRICE now that I&#8217;ve watched this and why?<\/p>\n<p>Well, for starters, it turns out that there&#8217;s just something intensely satisfying about<br \/>\nwatching these power washers make\u00a0everything new and clean again. Who knew?<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps it comes \u00a0from some deep seated desire\u00a0for cleanliness and order (my house<br \/>\nhowever is hardly \u00a0a testament to this desire), or maybe it&#8217;s the satisfaction that comes<br \/>\nfrom a visible marker\u00a0of completed work and progress in a world (and especially<br \/>\na line of work) where nothing\u00a0ever seems to be completely finished.<br \/>\nThe result, however, \u00a0is the same&#8230; soothing, satisfying, calm.<\/p>\n<p>Hit\u00a0repeat and remove a layer of gunk from the inside of your brain&#8230;&#8230; feel the calm.<\/p>\n<p>It kind of reminds me of a meditation exercise that I learned many years ago, in a grade-<br \/>\nsix class, \u00a0from an exceptionally creative \u00a0teacher, a free-thinker who would begin every single<br \/>\nschool day, \u00a0with 5 minutes of focused meditation in which the students would silently pick a<br \/>\nfocal point (say, a picture of a hot air balloon) and clear all thoughts to reach a zen-like calm.<br \/>\nAnd if stressed, imagine yourself standing under a dome, like a planetarium, looking up at the dirty<br \/>\nwalls, grimy with pollution and graffiti. In your hand was a hose (or a power washer!), and over<br \/>\nthe course of 5 minutes, you could really get that sucker clean. That was the inside of your head.<br \/>\nYou&#8217;d feel that dirty water funnel down the drain and just leave your mind.<\/p>\n<p>Well, will you look at that! How cathartic.<br \/>\nI think the Scooby-Gang may have solved this one after all.<br \/>\nI blame it on the power-washers&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Why are these Power Washing videos SO strangely satisfying??
