The NRA’s “Grand Ole Night of Freedom Concert” in Houston may not happen, because no one is left to perform.<\/p>\n
Almost all of the artists have cancelled out of respect for those affected by Tuesday’s school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.<\/p>\n
Don McLean dropped out Wednesday, and on Thursday there was cancellations from Larry Gatlin, Lee Greenwood, T. Graham Brown, Larry Stewart, and Danielle Peck.<\/p>\n
As of Thursday night, the only remaining performer was Jacob Bryant.<\/p>\n
Larry Gatlin released a statement.<\/p>\n
“I cannot, in good conscience, perform at the NRA convention in Houston this weekend. While I agree with most of the positions held by the NRA, I have come to believe that, while background checks would not stop every madman with a gun, it is at the very least a step in the right direction toward preventing [this] kind of tragedy.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Some people were upset about it, so he posted a video on Facebook a little later making it clear that he pulled out because of his “respect for those people in his beloved Texas.”<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Lee Greenwood made this statement to Fox News.<\/p>\n
“As a father, I join the rest of America in being absolutely heartbroken by the horrific event that transpired in Texas. I was scheduled to perform at NRA’s private event on Saturday with my band.
