I\u2019m sure he probably wouldn\u2019t even remember ever saying it, but\u2026 I was 19 years old. And I gave him a bunch of poetry. Everybody in Nashville\u2019s writing. I was in college. He just said, \u2018Yeah, you\u2019re a good singer, but you\u2019re not really a writer.\u2019 And I just let it be the truth for 40 years.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The 60-year-old country star is now set to release her first album of co-written songs, The Mirror, in July, with Yearwood crediting a fresh, new perspective which led her to start writing for herself.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI had this kind of \u2018a ha\u2019 moment. I turned 60 last year, and I highly recommend it. Everything sort of opened up.
