St. Clair College Music Theatre Performance Students Present On The Town at the Chrysler Theatre

The talented students of the St. Clair College Music Theatre Performance Program are set to light up the stage this spring with the dazzling Broadway classic On The Town, running April 23–25 at the Chrysler Theatre.

Bursting with energy, romance, and unforgettable music, On The Town follows three sailors on a 24-hour shore leave in New York City as they race through the city in search of adventure, excitement, and love. Packed with comedy, spectacular dance numbers, and iconic songs, this timeless musical captures the exhilaration of youth and the magic of living in the moment.

This exciting production will feature 35 St. Clair College Music Theatre Performance students on stage, accompanied by a 20-piece live orchestra, delivering the rich, dynamic score that has made this musical a Broadway favourite. Directed by Kerry Ann Doherty, Music Direction by Michael Karloff and Choreography by Kristyn Wiklanski 

With music by legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and based on an idea by Jerome Robbins, On The Town has become one of Broadway’s most celebrated musicals. The original production opened in 1944 and earned widespread acclaim, while the 2014 Broadway revival won the Tony Award for Best Choreography and was nominated for four Tony Awards, reintroducing the classic to a new generation of theatre lovers.

Audiences can expect thrilling dance sequences, soaring vocals, vibrant characters, and a live-theatre experience filled with laughter and heart. Presented by the next generation of emerging performers, this production showcases the exceptional talent, dedication, and training of St. Clair College’s Music Theatre Performance students.

Through mindful practice, we learn that true strength lies in softness, patience, humility, and the ability to truly listen—both to ourselves and to others. Letting go, rather than holding on, becomes the foundation for transformation, as we shift from grasping to giving, and from performance to deep internal change.
