{"id":10063,"date":"2021-09-10T09:27:08","date_gmt":"2021-09-10T13:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/chyrfm\/?p=10063"},"modified":"2021-09-10T10:21:42","modified_gmt":"2021-09-10T14:21:42","slug":"homegrown-hit-lisette-tyler-a-beautiful-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/chyrfm\/blogs\/mornings\/2021\/09\/homegrown-hit-lisette-tyler-a-beautiful-day\/","title":{"rendered":"HOMEGROWN HIT &#8211; Lisette &amp; Tyler &#8216;A Beautiful Day&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s a different kind of <strong>Homegrown Hit<\/strong> this week because our featured artists are actually lost at sea!!<\/p>\n<p>Well, not really.\u00a0 But <strong>Lisette &amp; Tyler<\/strong> really do call the ocean their home right now, which means they have very limited access to things like phones and Wifi.\u00a0 I was able to catch up with them via email as we get ready to debut their new song<em> A Beautiful Day<\/em>.\u00a0 You can listen to it right here:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"380\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"encrypted-media\" title=\"Spotify Embed: A Beautiful Day\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/track\/6pqol7WdgvBdoj49pmSLkx\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>J:\u00a0 So where exactly\u00a0are you guys right now?\u00a0 Blink twice if you&#8217;re in danger.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>L&amp;T: We are currently onboard the Carnival Magic cruise ship, based out of Port Canaveral and sailing to ports in the Bahamas.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>J:\u00a0 Cool.\u00a0 Cool.\u00a0 You must really get along to be able to spend so much time together stuck on a ship, how long have you been performing as a duo?<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><em>L&amp;T:\u00a0 We have been performing together for just about 10 years now.\u00a0\u00a0Initially, we started out as a Jazz Duo while attending the University of Windsor, and for the past 5 years we have been performing on cruise ships.\u00a0\u00a0First as part of a 6 piece Rock Band and now we are a \u2018Mainstream Duo\u2019.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>J:\u00a0 How did you end up with this sweet cruise ship gig?<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><em>L&amp;T: Back in 2016, we got our first contract with Carnival in the Rock-band by applying online. The attractive part of the job was, and still is, the high consistency of performing.\u00a0\u00a0Along with it being a steady pay-check, we were really able to hone our skills while learning a long list of songs.\u00a0\u00a0This helped us transition into the duo once we had a variety of genres under our belt, and now we enjoy the creative freedom of performing songs we enjoy together, and arranging tunes just for the two of us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>J:\u00a0 Your new EP is called &#8216;Lost at Sea&#8217;.\u00a0 Have you always wanted to be on the water?<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><em>L&amp;T: Lost at Sea was written while performing on the Carnival Inspiration in 2019 which is partly how it got its name.\u00a0\u00a0The title also stems from the idea that we can all feel uncertain about our futures, especially for us in the music industry.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><em>While we can\u2019t say that we always dreamt of being cruise ship entertainers, we will forever be grateful for this time in our lives.\u00a0\u00a0We are able to travel, do what we love, and meet a lot of new people from all around the world that we connect with through music.\u00a0\u00a0When the day comes when we no longer work on cruise ships, we will have no regrets.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>J:\u00a0 What are you plans once you get back on dry land?<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><em>L&amp;T: We are currently writing more songs that we plan to include on a full length album.\u00a0\u00a0The pandemic has slowed this down a bit, but being back on the cruises and performing every day again has gotten the creative gears moving.\u00a0\u00a0Our goal is to complete the writing while we\u2019re here and begin the recording process once we\u2019re back on land.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><em>We will hopefully be playing live shows again after this contract as well.\u00a0\u00a0Before Ontario\u2019s shut down back in January, we were able to play at some wonderful venues in Windsor, Sarnia and Niagara Falls where we look forward to performing again soon.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>J:\u00a0 Last question.\u00a0 Favourite movies.\u00a0 Are they all aquatic themed?<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><em>L&amp;T: Ironically Lisette has never seen Jaws, so I think we\u2019ll have to watch that one soon, haha, but who doesn\u2019t like the Titanic!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Honestly though, most of our down time has been spent watching the TV show \u2018Rick and Morty\u2019 when we can.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>J:\u00a0 Thank you both, can&#8217;t wait to premier your new song!<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><em>L&amp;T: Thanks so much for having us on and taking the time to connect with us.
