Jay’s review #3:\u00a0 A Visit From The Goon Squad<\/strong> by Jennifer Egan<\/em><\/p>\n

I’ll say right off the bat… I did not love this book.\u00a0 Maybe it’s because I just finished reading not one<\/a> but two<\/a> of the best books I’ve ever read, so my expectations were sky high.\u00a0 But they SHOULD be high, this book won the freaking Pulitzer<\/em> in 2011 and has been named one of the best books of the decade!<\/p>\n

My final analysis?\u00a0 Meh.\u00a0 I didn’t really laugh, I didn’t really cry, and I didn’t really fall in love with any of the characters or their stories.\u00a0 It was fine, but just fine.<\/p>\n

Tori’s review #3:\u00a0 Mary Jane<\/strong> by Jessica Anya Blau<\/em><\/p>\n

I know we’re not supposed to judge books by covers, but this was a book I saw in a store and bought purely because the cover called to me. It’s someone holding a record, so like, obviously?!<\/p>\n

Reviews say that it has the feel of Daisy Jones & The Six<\/em> (my favorite book EVER, by the way). I really don’t agree with that. Other than the both stories taking place in the same decade (the 70s) and both dealing with rock ‘n’ roll, that’s it! I keep describing it as sweet.<\/span> It’s a heartwarming “coming of age” story of a young girl who’s the summer nanny for a “deviant” family from her own… and by deviant I mean the dad treats celebrity addicts & the mom never wears a bra.<\/p>\n

It’s sweet. I recommend as an easy-read, but it’s certainly no Daisy Jones!<\/p>\n
