Holy Anxious Batman!

I thought this might be a good pic to lead with today since it’s Earth Day. I sometimes wonder if the next planet we destroy will get it’s own day?! This is an iPhone Capture from a year ago along Clyde Line in Huron County. So much has changed … So much remains the same.

I generally keep the controversial thoughts to myself because confrontation is not something that anxious humans look for. Having said that, Holy Anxious Batman! The world seems to be returning to a full on “Covid’s Over” attitude and I’m a little confused. I haven’t checked today but last I did, we were still seeing numbers climbing at alarming rates in Ontario.

It won’t surprise you to know my anxiety levels and sleepless nights are increasing. I’m the weirdo who still wears a mask in stores and in places where people are gathering and who tries to maintain some form of social distancing and no, I really don’t want to shake hands, as much as I appreciate the gesture.
Or … maybe I just have that brain that when everything is fine, looks for something to be anxious about?

It’s been a crazy week so I’m already digging into the archives for a couple of pics but here are a couple of favourites that help take my mind off the things I can’t do anything about anyway. (Insert eye roll here).

I was talking to our engineer here at the station this week and admiring, out loud, how chill he seems to be … all. the. time! I don’t think I’ve ever heard Rob raise his voice or get overly animated about anything. I’ve seen him roll his eyes a few times but he always appears calm and matter-of-fact. When something’s not working quite right with our radio gear or tech, I immediately fly into “OMG The WORLD IS ENDING” mode … while Rob is always, “Okay…lets have a look here.” I appreciate him and envy that gift he has.

I have two remote broadcasts to do this week … the first in a few years now and I’ll be using a new system and some newer cutting edge tech. I’ve been sweating about it for about three weeks now. Wish me luck … lol

You’d think after all these years I might have learned that things always have a way of working out … that, it’s not the end of the world if they don’t … that “I’ve got this” … but my brain would much rather torture me about it all.

So, what am I doing about it? Just my best. Taking some deep breaths and trying to make sure I’m as prepped as I can be. I’m also trying to take in whatever beauty I can find to increase some endorphin levels, hanging with my person and trying to focus on anything I can that’s positive.

Comfort Food! It’s one of my go-tos when anxiety peaks. We made some Irish Stew w Garlic Buns when the stormy weather hit early in the week.

I’ll sign off this week with another iPhone capture from the road side, coming home from our Trivia Night at Cowbell Brewing last evening. I love the clouds and the sun reflecting off the pines.

Hope you’re doing well … chat next week 🙂
