33/65 – What Do The Wingham Town Hall, The United Way & The MUDMEN Have In Common?
October 30, 2023 1:00 amI’ve played countless shows there over the years and made some incredible memories with a lot of really special people and some incredible artists. Wingham was incorporated as a town in 1879, and the Town Hall opened in 1890. I wasn’t able to track anyone down who had the full history but for most of my lifetime, I remember the top floor being an incredible 400 seat theatre.
For a time, a few years ago it went dark … sadly in need of repair and some upgrades … which through the miracle of community and people who care … it received.
We talk a fair bit on our podcast about how so many of the things we know and love depend so heavily on volunteers and people who care enough to give the valuable gift of their time. The Wingham Town Hall Theatre is hoppin’ again and as you’d expect, it due to in no small part to volunteers.
One of those volunteers is an old friend of mine, Terry Walker and he joins us this week to talk about the theatre and some of the shows coming our way in the next few months.
There’s one in particular on Nov 3rd … a benefit for United Way Perth-Huron so we will also talk to Community Development Manager Lisa Harper and then … the show itself features … The MUDMEN – Canada’s Celtic Rock Warriors who have been touring the globe for some 20 years. We will chat with founding member Robbie Campbell.

We hope you enjoy the photo gallery this week. It includes a few shots from some favourite shows I’ve had the pleasure to be in at the Town Hall, a couple for a time in the 90″s when we raised a few dollars for the United Way with a haircut … and a few of the MUDMEN, kindly provided by Robbie.
