What *IS* Canadian?
March 4, 2025 7:00 amWith all the talk about tariffs, people want to buy more Canadian products.
BUT, they may be wondering what “counts” as a Canadian product because
some are listed as “Made in Canada” and others are “Product of Canada”,
and there is a slight difference.
From the Competition Burwau’s Website:
“Product of Canada” claims will be subject to a higher threshold of Canadian content (98%),
while “Made in Canada” claims will remain subject to a 51% threshold of Canadian content
but should be accompanied by a qualifying statement indicating that the product contains imported content.
In both cases, the last substantial transformation of the product must have occurred in Canada.”
If you have any doubt, there are apps like Buy Beaver, O SCANada, Shop Canadian,
or sites like MadeInCanadaDirectory.ca and madeinca.ca.
…or if all else fails, you could take the advice of This Hour…
