End The Silence & Begin The Fight (#RunPhilRun)
January 31, 2019 2:04 pmIt’s been quite a week. I’m overwhelmed by all the kindness, support and encouragement being directed toward our upcoming run for Mental Health awareness.
Mental Health Week is May 6-12 this year. Over the first 5 days, I will run/walk/crawl 120 km (24km each day) in an attempt to shine some light on the problem and some of the great organizations that work hard to combat it’s effects here in Midwestern Ontario.
When our team sat down for our first meeting in early December, my friend Rikki brought a poem to our attention. It was written by a couple of F.E.Madill students and it stopped us in our tracks.
We decided then that it needed to be part of the campaign.
My thanks to Rikki, Justin and Elizabeth for the poem and to all the young people who stepped up to be a part of the video. To my left tackle (Blind Side) Genny Smith and Lorrie Goos for helping to make it happen.
And a special thanks to Aussie Chaffe for working his magic with the filming and editing.
#RunPhilRun is dedicated to the beautiful souls we’ve lost and to those who continue to fight in silence. You are not alone.
