3/65 – Beer 101 With Jeremy Moore (Cowbell Brewing)
April 2, 2023 8:19 pmIn 2016, I got a media release about a new craft beer coming to Huron County. To be honest, I didn’t think to much about it until the summer of 2017, when I was invited to a media day at the soon to open facility on the corner of 4 and 25 in Blyth. My first inclination was to decline the invite but when they told me there would be free samples, my schedule suddenly opened.
I was a little embarrassed when I went in for the first time because the building itself was so much more than I’d ever imagined. Modelled after an authentic 18th century German bank barn it was a cathedral of architectural beauty. And yes there were a few samples which also surprised me in a really good way.
A few weeks after the media day, I was in Lucknow to introduce a performer at the “Music in the Fields” festival and I ran into one of the owners who I may or may not have fan-girled all over (can I still say that?)
Soon after, I had an offer to come work there part time on their staff of storyteller’s (tour guides) which I politely declined citing a busy schedule and then they said, we’re just thinking maybe 1 or 2 days a week and along with your salary, we will give you some free beer every month … … … That was 5 1/2 years ago and I still genuinely enjoy my part time job there.
I think that making beer is a fascinating process and on this week’s podcast I chat with my friend Jeremy Moore, a brewer at Cowbell Brewing in Blyth about the whole process. Below, you’ll find a carousel of images that support much of our conversation. Cheers!
