He has made donations in the past to the Oklahoma University\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital Foundation and said,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey don\u2019t turn any kids away. You come in there, you have a problem, they don\u2019t turn anybody away, so I thought, \u2018That\u2019s a place that needs some money.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[twitter id=&#8221;1072208653623681026&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Aspen received treatment for a neuroblastoma tumor when she was only 5 months old. Neuroblastoma is a type of cancer that forms in the nerve tissue, and is the most common for infants. She will celebrate her 3rd birthday next month.<\/p>\n<p>Aspen\u2019s mother Shayla said,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe are so thankful that Children\u2019s is close to us and that they have the best pediatric physicians to care for Aspen. We didn\u2019t have to leave the state to receive the care that Aspen needed. It would have been very hard for us to leave the state for that long. We were able to go home as we needed, and family members were able to visit and support Aspen without traveling long distance.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Blake Shelton has established a Cancer Research Program in honour of his cousin, Aspen Van Horn.
