{"id":25419,"date":"2023-07-19T05:55:17","date_gmt":"2023-07-19T09:55:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cjwffm\/?p=25419"},"modified":"2023-07-19T05:47:12","modified_gmt":"2023-07-19T09:47:12","slug":"jason-aldean-music-video-pulled-from-cmt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cjwffm\/blogs\/country-music-news\/2023\/07\/jason-aldean-music-video-pulled-from-cmt\/","title":{"rendered":"Jason Aldean Music Video Pulled From CMT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The music video for Jason Aldean\u2019s single \u201cTry That In A Small Town\u201d was pulled from CMT on Monday, July 17th.<\/p>\n<p>Billboard reports the video was in rotation on CMT from its debut on Friday, July 14th until Sunday, July 16th.<\/p>\n<p>The video, which is still available on YouTube, shows Aldean performing in front of a courthouse interspersed with footage of a flag burning, protesters screaming and attacking police in various scenarios, and robbing a convenience store<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;pro-lynching&#8221; reference is because the music video opens with Jason performing in front of the Maury County courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lynching_of_Henry_Choate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">It&#8217;s where an 18-year-old Black man was lynched by a mob in 1927.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In a statement posted to his Instagram Story, the singer wrote in part,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn\u2019t a single video clip that isn\u2019t real news footage \u2013 and while I can try to respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music \u2013 this one has gone too far.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jason also defended the lyric about the gun his &#8220;granddad&#8221; gave him.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As many pointed out, I was present at Route 91, where so many lost their lives, and our community recently suffered another heartbreaking tragedy.
