Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks had the honour of singing John Lennon’s “Imagine” at the tribute service for former First Lady Rosalynn Carter.<\/p>\n

It was at a Methodist Church in Atlanta and people thought the song was an odd choice, mostly because of the opening lyric: “Imagine there’s no heaven, it’s easy if you try. No hell below us. Above us, only sky.”<\/p>\n

But it is one of the couple’s favourite songs.<\/p>\n

There is a video from 2017 of Georgia Tech students singing it to the Carters<\/a> when they were given the Ivan Allen Jr. Prize for Social Change.<\/p>\n

We also came across this quote from Jimmy. “In many countries around the world . . . my wife and I have visited about 125 countries . . . you hear John Lennon’s song ‘Imagine’ used almost equally with national anthems.”<\/p>\n

It’s fair to think that Jimmy or a family member requested the song . . . or that Trisha and Garth knew it was special to them.
