Elle King\u2019s drunken performance of \u201cMarry Me\u201d was a low point of an otherwise joyous tribute to Dolly Parton back in January for the country legend\u2019s 78th birthday.<\/p>\n
After maintaining her silence about the incident, King finally shared what happened for the first time on Chelsea Handler\u2019s Dear Chelsea podcast.<\/p>\n
King revealed she wasn\u2019t supposed to perform that night at the Grand Ole Opry, and was asked to sing once an unnamed star had to back out at the last minute.<\/p>\n
She revealed she was dealing with \u201cvery heavy and traumatic\u201d personal issues that night.<\/p>\n
\u201cI suffer from severe PTSD. I take one shot too many, and I\u2019m just not there in my body,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t even remember what I said. Maybe I shouldn\u2019t have been drinking\u2026This is like a sacred stage and I fu–ed up. If you were there that night and I didn\u2019t get a chance to say I\u2019m sorry to you, I apologize.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
