This comes after the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/afn.ca\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Assembly of First Nations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">First Nations Child and Family Caring Society<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> launched a human rights complaint to Ottawa over 15 years ago. Last year Ottawa offered $20 billion for child-welfare funding and another $20 billion to compensate, but a tribunal rejected the proposal. Another part of the proposed settlement is an apology from the prime minister.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/westerngazette.ca\/news\/queens_park\/ontario-ndp-comes-to-london-unveils-plan-to-build-250-000-homes-amid-provincial-housing\/article_49d80976-72ab-11ee-9264-1b59300ac42b.html\">NDP Leader comes to London to unveil plan to fix housing crisis:<\/a><\/strong><\/em><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ola.org\/en\/members\/all\/marit-stiles\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Marit Stiles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, leader of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontariondp.ca\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NDP Party of Ontario<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> made a stop in London to discuss his plan to counteract the housing crisis. Stiles plans to build 250,000 affordable homes throughout the province over the next ten years. Housing would be funded by the public, non-profit, and co-op housing associations. In a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontariondp.ca\/news\/stiles-ndp-announces-homes-ontario-plan-get-province-back-business-building-housing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">press release<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Stiles said <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe Ontario NDP are going to get the province back in the business of building housing with Homes Ontario &#8211; and we\u2019re going to do it together, so that everyone in Ontario has a place to call home.\u201d City council voted in favour of the NDP\u2019s plan tabled by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ola.org\/en\/members\/all\/terence-kernaghan\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MPP Terence Kernaghan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The NDP is looking to crack down on real estate speculation, end exclusionary zoning and rent control.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/londonnewstoday.ca\/london\/news\/2023\/10\/24\/st-josephs-holding-first-in-person-bra-day-since-pandemic\">BRA Day back at St. Joe\u2019s hospital:<\/a><\/strong><\/em><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> After a three year hiatus, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stjoes.ca\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">St. Joseph\u2019s HealthCare<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> London will be hosting its annual <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cancer.ca\/en\/get-involved\/breast-reconstruction-awareness-day\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The decision to return back to the city was made to help educate, support and offer companionship to attendees. Also giving them the chance to meet health care professionals who would be treating them. With plenty of women sharing their stories and experiences with breast reconstruction surgery, the event is free to the public and will take place today at St. Joseph\u2019s from 6pm to 10 pm. Attendees can register online.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/westerngazette.ca\/news\/blood-donation-drive-to-return-to-campus-for-the-first-time-since-pandemic\/article_f2d72e50-729f-11ee-afe5-0386689c3bb4.html\">Blood Drive return to campus:<\/a><\/strong><\/em> Western University will be hosting a halloween themed blood drive today from 11 am to 4 pm. The drive will be the first ones ran since the COVID-19 pandemic. Ran by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blood.ca\/en\">Canadian Blood Services\u2019 London<\/a> branch, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernfhssc.ca\/\">Faculty of Health Sciences Student Council<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/nextgen.blood.ca\/en\">Western\u2019s Next Gen Program for Canadian Blood Services<\/a>, the drive is to support the <a href=\"https:\/\/suitupforjack.com\/#0\">Suit Up for Jack<\/a> campaign. Jack is a London local diagnosed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhlbi.nih.gov\/health\/anemia\/aplastic-anemia#:~:text=Despite%20its%20name%2C%20aplastic%20anemia,can%20be%20mild%20or%20serious.\">aplastic anemia, a rare<\/a> blood disease that attacks the bone marrow. So far Jack has needed 132 units of blood to battle his condition.
