The third concert of my internship was the final night of London’s Rock the Park music festival. Unlike the opening night the sun was shining, and the weather was perfect!

After arriving early to scope out the grounds we were quickly greeted by the first act, Odds. It was great to watch this band performing the hits I’ve been singing along to since the 90’s.

Up next, the Sheepdogs. If you can’t have a good time watching this band you may as well never leave home. As expected, this feel-good set of tunes featured groovy hits and lots of Allman Brothers inspired guitar riffs!

Alan Doyle brought his A game with a set filled with East Coast flavoured music. Showcasing hits from his solo career as well as Great Big Sea, Doyle and his band put on a rousing and energetic performance. He also gave the audience the insights that all the performers were thrilled to be hanging out with their Can-Con comrades backstage.

As Harris Park fell into darkness, Bryan Adams hit the stage and launched into his opener “Kickass”. What followed was a non-stop, high-energy career-spanning set featuring all the hits like, “Run to You”, “Cuts like a Knife” and “Summer of 69”. During the encore, Bryan Adams paid tribute to the originally scheduled headliner, Neil Young, by bringing out all of the musical acts from the day, for an inspired, all-Canadian cover of “Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World”.

Bryan Adams continued the tribute by picking up an acoustic guitar and playing a solo version of Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold”, before wrapping up his performance with a stripped down crowd pleaser, “Straight from the Heart”.

Rock the Park celebrated their 20th Anniversary this summer and thanks to Classic Rock 98.1 I was there to celebrate with them!

[gallery ids=”27261,27262,27263,27264,27266″]

Hey folks, it’s Steve, the Classic Rock 98.1 intern.
