Sixteen Straight Number Ones!

Jimmie was playing mandolin and singing at three years of age.  He was encouraged by his musical family, and eventually performed on radio with his parents and siblings.

Playing theaters, and schoolhouses around the Southern United States, the Singing Loden Family later became Sonny Loden and the Southerners.

He became friends with Chet Atkins, and that led to his first recording contract.  Beginning in 1967, he had a string of sixteen number one hits, a feat not equaled by any solo artist in any genre of music.

Join me next Saturday, August 10 at 9:20, for more with Sonny James!
