Country’s First Queen

Lynn was singing at the age of six, and she received lots of encouragement from her parents, both Country Music songwriters, Casey and Liz Anderson.

Lynn’s mom wrote, “My Friends are Gonna Be Strangers” which became a top ten hit for Merle Haggard.  Young Lynn was part of an informal sing along in a hotel room with Merle Haggard and Freddie Hart, and that led to a contract with Chart Records.

Lynn went on to blaze a trail for women in Country Music, and she became a true superstar.  She was named, “Artist of the Decade” by Record World in 1980.  Her version of “Rose Garden” became one of the most successful crossover recordings of all time.

Join me next Saturday, September 14 at 9:20, for more with Lynn Anderson!
