Hal was performing as a drummer with a rhythm and blues trio when he was fifteen.  In his twenties, he moved to Texas, where he was inspired to write music, and a few years later, he was playing clubs around Austin.

He signed a deal with Watermelon records, and his debut LP contained eleven of his own songs.  He moved to Nashville and his career continued to grow.  In 1994, he was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

He has seventeen hits on the Hot Country Songs Chart, and has released eleven studio albums.

Hal has appeared on film, his art has been shown at Pena Gallery, and as a master carpenter he enjoys making toys.

Join me next Saturday, December 28 at 9:20, for more with Hal Ketchum!
